LuchaCubano Cuban Restaurant in Riverhead to Permanently Close Doors Jan. 2

Share

The owner of LuchaCubano, a Cuban restaurant in Riverhead, announced that the eatery is poised to permanently close its doors at the start of the new year.

On Sunday, December 18, the establishment’s owner, Marc LaMaina, posted on their Facebook page that LuchaCubano – located at 87 East Main Street – would be going out of business on Monday, January 2, 2023.

“It is with a heavy heart and a focus on the future that we announce that our last day as LuchaCubano will be Jan 2nd, 2023,” the post read. “We would like to thank our Leadership Team, Front of House & Back of House for consistently pushing forward. Thank you to our loyal customers, local and afar.”

LaMaina explained that the restaurant was not a good fit for the downtown Riverhead area, but noted that perhaps it would re-open at a different place on Long Island one day.

“While LuchaCubano was a labor of love and produced some of our best food as a company, it’s in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he said. “A concept for a different location for sure. For now, we are going to take a break, circle back and maybe take another shot this Spring.”

If a new location does indeed open, LaMaina noted that previously-sold LuchaCubano gift cards would be honored with a bonus “$25 bonus inconvenience card.”

“We are still rocking and rolling until January 2nd and hope to see you before we close the Cubano door for the last time,” LaMaina concluded.
