The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at 6:06 pm in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, vehicle one, a 2014 Volkswagen, operated by a male, 61, was traveling westbound on Greenwich Street in the vicinity of Henry Street, when it was in a collision with vehicle two, a 2008 Acura MDX.
The Acura was occupied by the male driver, 37, three female passengers, 37, 14 and 4. It was traveling westbound on Greenwich Street.
The Acura then struck a third vehicle, a 2013 Ford Explorer traveling westbound on Greenwich Street while waiting to turn north on Henry Street. After striking the Acura, vehicle one – the Volkswagen then struck a fourth vehicle, a 2014 BMW operated by a male, 63, that was traveling southbound on Henry Street.
The operator of vehicle one was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female passenger 16, and male passenger, 14, suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
The operator of vehicle two suffered serious leg injuries. The female, 37, was not injured and the other passengers were transported to an area hospital for minor lacerations.
The operator of vehicle three was not injured.
The male operator of vehicle four suffered trauma to his arm and body. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
All vehicles were towed from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
