Six Holiday Light Shows on Long Island

Long Island offers an almost unlimited number of ways to celebrate the season. None are as magical as one of the holiday light displays. We compiled six of the best holiday light shows to help you get into the spirit.

Shimmering Solstice at Old Westbury Gardens –  Shimmering Solstice at Old Westbury Gardens is an unforgettable walkthrough experience of holiday lights, sights, and sounds. Be prepared to be enchanted by magical light displays and seasonal soundtracks that are set along Old Westbury Gardens’ beautiful paths that will lead you through the world-famous Walled Garden, Rose Garden, South Lawn and Allée, just to name a few. Where: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd, Old Westbury.

Magic of Lights at Jones Beach – A festival of twinkling, magical holiday lights. A 200-foot light tunnel and over 40 Scenes of holiday lights displays will be featured during Magic of Lights, the unique and thrilling family-friendly drive-through holiday lights festival spread over a one to two mile course. Where: Jones Beach State Park, 50 Bay Parkway, Wantagh.

Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Holiday Light Show – Drive-thru a 1.5-mile trail with more than 100 dazzling holiday-themed displays with five new displays designed by Girl Scouts in Suffolk County. Open from November 26 to December 30 (Closed December 24 & 25). Where: Smith Point County Park, 1 William Floyd Pkwy, Shirley

Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Enchanted Forest – A walk thru experience with 200 feet of sparkling displays that welcome you to the family-fun holiday village complete with music, games, hot cocoa, and a heated tent where you can grab a photo with Santa. Enchanted Forest ticket includes a free drink and snack, a photo with Santa, and access to outdoor activities. Where: Southaven County Park, Yaphank.

Winter Lantern Festival Nassau Drive-Thru Adventure – Available from November 3, 2022, to January 15, 2023, this is the only immersive drive-through experience with illuminated tunnels and Chinese lanterns inspired by outer space. Visitors will move between planets, rockets, astronauts and more. Get tickets. Where: Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Drive, Roslyn.

Suffolk Winter Lantern Festival – Available from November 4, 2022, to January 8, 2023, this is the first show in Suffolk by the NYC Winter Lantern Festival which will transform Smithtown into a magical light display featuring flowers, animals, and much more. Hours are Friday to Sundays 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. $22 for adults and $12 for kids with FREE parking available. Get tickets. Where: Smithtown Historical Society, 239 East Main Street, Smithtown.
