Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for a Burglary that occurred on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm in Elmont.
According to detectives, officers responded to a restaurant located at 798 Elmont Road for a man that was inside the location and did not have permission to be there. Upon arrival, officers were notified that the male subject entered the managers office and began to remove business records without permission and authority from the owner.
The subject began putting business records in a bag and then ran out of the office, up a flight of stairs.  The manager of the restaurant attempted to retrieve the documents and a physical struggle ensued.  During the struggle, the male subject slid down the stairs causing him to suffer a minor injury.
Subsequent to the investigation, police learned that Donald W. Nelson, 52, of 1053 E 40th Street, was a former employee, who was recently terminated from employment at the restaurant and informed that he was no longer permitted to return to the premise.
Defendant Nelson was placed into custody and transported to a local hospital for shoulder pain.  No further injuries were reported.
Donald W. Nelson is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
