Recently, Brookhaven Town Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich was honored to speak during the 100th Anniversary celebration of The Stony Brook School. The centennial year event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony that both celebrated their 100 years of impact in the Three Village community and inaugurated a new century of character education.
New York State Assemblyman Steve Englebright, Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn, and Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich presented proclamations that recognized the history and the impact that the school has had on the community. Three Village Chamber Trustee Bob Brown also presented the school with a certificate of congratulations.
Councilmember Kornreich said, “I was honored to join my colleagues at the Stony Brook School to commemorate the school’s 100th year anniversary. One way of defining community is a group of people with diverse characteristics who are linked by social ties, share common perspectives and engage in joint action. For a community to flourish, we need people with great character who do the best they can with what they have, and for the right reasons. The Stony Brook School has worked hard to cultivate leaders who are not just career driven but who put character before career. We are grateful for your enriching presence in Three Village and wish you well as you begin your next 100 years of growth and service.”
Head of School, Joshua Crane said, “For 100 years, The Stony Brook School has held firm to its motto of Character Before Career. We are grateful for the vision of our founders and seek to build upon their legacy for our next 100 years.
