NCPD: Roosevelt Man Found in Possession of Illegal Gun, Knife After Resisting Arrest

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Criminal Possession of a Firearm that occurred on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 2:20 a.m. in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a Washington Avenue residence for reports of a fight. Upon arrival, Officers encountered an intoxicated male, Mauricio Cortez Flores, 45, of Washington Avenue who was acting irate.
During the investigation, defendant Flores did refuse verbal commands and resist arrest. Officers were able to gain control of the defendant and place him under arrest without further incident. Defendant Flores was in possession of a gun and a knife. No injuries were reported.
Defendant Flores is charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Monday, September 26, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
