Councilman Michael Loguercio recently accepted the donation of an 1873 silver tureen to the Town’s historic Longwood Estate by Carol Smith Coco. The tureen is well documented in the record of the celebration of William Sidney and Eleanor Jones Smith’s 50th wedding anniversary in 1873. Carol is a direct descendant through the Smith’s youngest son, Apollos Smith.
Councilman Loguercio was honored to personally thank Ms. Coco for donating this beautiful tureen to the estate. Ms. Coco described her family gatherings that took place over the years there and shared with the Councilman the extensive family lineage that her family has with this estate.
Councilman Loguercio said, “Thank you to Ms. Coco for this priceless family heirloom that she donated to the estate for safe keeping. This beautiful piece will add another layer of history and significance to the estate that will be discussed with all who visits this historic site for many years to come. I am truly honored to have had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Coco and hear about her family traditions and memories that took place here.”
