Babylon Community Encouraged to Support Neighbors Facing Hunger

Share

September is Hunger Action Month and PSEG Long Island is encouraging Long Islanders to support its Power to Feed collection drive scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16, at the Stop & Shop at 365 Route 109 in West Babylon.
This sixth and final Power to Feed Long Island food collection drive will be open all day, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free LED lightbulbs will be handed out to donors as a thank you and reusable bags will be given out. Using the lightbulbs and bags help the environment, the bulbs also save money and energy.
Power to Feed Long Island was created by PSEG Long Island in 2021 to help support community members facing food insecurity at a time when the pandemic and rising inflation are straining the inventories of local food banks. It provides Long Islanders with nearby locations to donate food that will be distributed by Island Harvest back into their communities through programs such as St. Nicholas Church food pantry in West Babylon and several Salvation Army locations throughout Long Island.
The partnership between PSEG Long Island, Island Harvest Food Bank and Stop & Shop supermarkets aims to collect the equivalent of 30,000 meals from July 1 to Sept. 30.
To support Power to Feed Long Island with a monetary donation online, visit www.psegliny.com/feedli – every dollar counts as two meals.
