Share

Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth and Councilwoman Joan Cergol will be joined by Town officials and members of the Town’s Opioid & Addiction Task Force to kick off the Town’s 2nd annual “Huntington Goes Purple” for National Recovery Month on Tuesday, August 30 at 12:00 PM on the front lawn at Huntington Town Hall.
September is National Recovery Month, started in 1989 in order to “promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible” (per SAMHSA).
Attending will be Supervisor Smyth, Councilwoman Joan Cergol, Opioid & Addiction Task Force (OATF) Co-Chairs Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds & Mary Silberstein, and OATF Member Sharon Richmond.
This is the Town’s second year in a row “going purple” in observance of National Recovery Month. Purple flags are being installed at the following locations for the duration of September:
  • Huntington Town Hall
  • Main Street (from Clinton Avenue/Green Street to Anderson Place)
  • Larkfield Road (from Webster Place to 9th Avenue)
