Legislator Anker, Sound Beach Civic Association and SCPD to Host NARCAN Training Class

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker in conjunction with the Sound Beach Civic Association and the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) will host a NARCAN training class on Monday, June 13th, 2022.
The class meets the NYS Department of Health requirements and will train participants to recognize an opioid overdose, administer intranasal NARCAN, and know what steps to take until EMS arrives during an emergency situation. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear a presentation from SCPD 7th Precinct Officers about fentanyl.
This class will be held at the Sound Beach Fire Department’s upstairs meeting room during the Sound Beach Civic Association’s general monthly meeting from 7:30pm – 8:30 pm on Monday, June 13th.  Please RVSP on or before June 13th by calling 631-854-1600 or emailing
“I am grateful for our partnerships with the Suffolk County Police Department and our local community groups, like the Sound Beach Civic Association, that have made it possible for us to reach our community members with important information” said Legislator Anker. “Thank you to the Suffolk County Police Department for their continued effort in preventing fatal overdoses and to the Sound Beach Civic Association for hosting us at their general monthly meeting. I hope you’ll come out to join us and learn how to be prepared to potentially save a life using naloxone.”
“We want to do whatever we can to make sure people have naloxone on hand and know how to use it,” said Bea Ruberto, Sound Beach Civic Association President. “It can save a life and we encourage members of the Civic as well as the community at large to sign up for this really important presentation.”
Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive an emergency resuscitation kit that includes NARCAN. To RSVP, or to receive additional information, please call Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
