Suffolk County SPCA Charges Lindenhurst Man with Animal Cruelty

Officers from the Suffolk County SPCA have charged a Lindenhurst man with leaving his black labrador mix dog outside in sub-freezing temperatures.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that officers, along with Suffolk County Police, responded to 232 44th Street, Lindenhurst, and charged Byron Perez, 34, with one count of violating the Suffolk County Code, a misdemeanor, and one count of the Agriculture and Markets Law, for leaving his dog outside in a cold unheated car with the engine not running, with no ready access to any food, water, or any indoor or heated facility, while the temperature outside ranged between 14 degrees and 18 degrees. Perez also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Perez is due to appear in First District Court, Central Islip on February 18, 2022, at 11 am.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
