Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed an Executive Order together with Legislator Denise Ford, Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, Assistant Police Chief Ferro, and Police Chief Atmore that will allow residents to learn more about the potential threat reform laws pose to their safety.
In the year of 2021, Nassau County reported 11,005 total arrests; of those total arrests, 9,699 were released without bail, and over 300 people were let go for weapon related offenses without bail. The order signed by the County Executive today directs the Nassau Police Department to disclose a daily report with pending criminal case data and bail status of those rearrested.
“It’s time that Nassau residents and the lawmakers who passed these dangerous laws know exactly how they are impacting our communities,” County Executive Blakeman said. “This Executive Order sheds sunlight on these dangerous laws and puts pressure on the Governor and State lawmakers to put law abiding Americans above criminals.”
