Next year’s Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K will take place on Sunday, October 23rd and the 5K will take place on Saturday, October 22nd.
“The Suffolk County Marathon has become an annual tradition for runners and families not just here in Suffolk, but all across Long Island, said Suffolk County Executive Bellone. “Not only does this race honor the selfless men and women who have served, but it also helps to fund critical services that our veterans need right here in Suffolk County.”
Runners only have a few weeks to sign up for exclusive pricing, and the first 300 runners to sign up will receive a free Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon water bottle.
The Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K race will once again start in the Village of Babylon. Athletes will get the chance to run through one of the most scenic courses on Long Island, running across the Robert Moses Causeway. In addition, the 5K will feature a brand-new course that showcases the beauty and views of Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore.
Col. John A. McMurray, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, Good Samaritan Hospital said: “As a member of our Armed Services for more than 26 years, I know the importance of the services provided to our veteran community and as a health care leader on Long Island, I want to ensure that the men and women who have protected our freedoms have access to the clinical and social care they need. We’re proud to once again support the Suffolk County Marathon which directly impacts our Long Island veterans.”
Dr. Patrick M. O’Shaughnessy, President and CEO of Catholic Health said: “Catholic Health is committed to supporting the brave men and women who serve our country. We are excited to once again be the Medal of Honor Title Sponsor for the Suffolk County Marathon which supports our veterans on Long Island and provides them with the much-needed health care and social services they deserve. As we kick-off the 2022 race registration, we look forward to another great event and the opportunity to provide high quality care to the running community on Long Island.”
Corey Roberts, Race Director of the Suffolk County Marathon & Founder of Race Awesome Inc. said: “The RaceAwesome Team is very proud to be involved with the Suffolk County Marathon and can’t wait to see athletes Run the Bridges again!”
The Suffolk County Marathon was first launched in 2015, with the main objective of providing additional support to the more than 90,000 veterans who reside in Suffolk County. Each year, the Marathon raises money to benefit veterans and to date, the Suffolk County Marathon has raised over $700,000 for local veterans’ services with more than 11,000 runners participating.
