Police, Fire Department Rescue Dog that Fell into Frozen Hewlett Pond

The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of an Animal Rescue that occurred recently in Hewlett.

According to Police, Fourth Precinct officers responded at 9:05 a.m. to Grant Park, located at 1625 Broadway, for a dog that fell into a partially frozen pond. Upon arrival the officers located the dog’s owner and were able to locate the Golden Retriever, Lucky, who was struggling to stay afloat.

Hewlett Fire Department responded to the scene. Rescue swimmers from the fire department were deployed and they were able to safely reach and rescue Lucky. The dog was transported to an area animal hospital for evaluation.
