If you live on Long Island, chances are that you’re very familiar with Men On The Move Moving & Self-Storage; after all, you don’t get to be the most award-winning full-service moving and self-storage company on Long Island without becoming instantly recognizable to the general public.

Men On The Move has been consistently growing over the years, taking their current place –by a wide margin – as the best moving and self-storage company on Long Island. 2021 promises to be their most exciting year yet with several big announcements, including the opening of a brand-new self-storage facility and a new solution for home and business self-storage.

According to Geffen Rodik, Director of Marketing & Self-Storage, what sets Men On The Move apart from similar services is that they truly are the only company that specializes equally in moving, self-storage, and mobile storage on all of Long Island.

“There are a lot of other moving companies and storage companies, but we’re the only company on Long Island to offer moving, self-storage, and mobile storage under one umbrella. We can handle any moving and storage need, all through one phone number; and that’s something many of our customers appreciate.”

Rodik went on to explain how important it is to their customers to have the choice to access their items using their own key, instead of having to schedule a time for access.

Originally founded by John Beyer in 1985 – who placed his very first ad in the Long Island Pennysaver in September of that year – Men On The Move has grown to the point that they can now boast of a meticulously-maintained fleet of trucks and tractor trailers – which are dispatched from their Woodbury headquarters – in addition to several self-storage facilities and more to serve your complete moving and storage needs.

Men On The Move is a full-service moving company, which means that their customers don’t have to lift a finger…unless they want to! The company can handle anything from a small studio apartment all the way to a 15,000 square-foot mansion, and anything in-between. The majority of their business is residential, but they have plenty of experience in helping businesses move as well; indeed, many of their business clients were satisfied customers that Men On The Move had first helped move to a personal residence.

And with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Rodik stated that Men On The Move is at the forefront of safety and is strictly adhering to all cleaning and social distancing protocols, with all storage units and vehicles being fully-sanitized after each and every use in order to ensure the health and well-being of all customers and staff.

“We were one of the first moving companies on Long Island to offer COVID safety measures,” he said. “All our men are fully trained to provide their services as safely as possible, and all our facilities are sanitized daily, as are our mobile storage containers after every use.”

Over the years, Men On The Move began to recognize the need for storage among Long Islanders, and to that end they have opened a few self-storage facilities. In addition to their Woodbury and Famingdale self-storage locations, Men On The Move is excited to announce their latest class-a facility located in Deer Park, brand new for 2021! All their self-storage locations offer climate-controlled units and feature start-of-the-art security systems and the best amenities that the company can provide for customers.

Also new for 2021 is the addition of their recently-launched mobile storage division, Rodik noted, where the company has taken the self-storage “pod” concept and improved upon it.

“We call our units ‘storage cubes’ and, what sets them apart is that they are fully insulated, include premium weather-proofing, and offer industry-leading security…we opted for the better product,” he said. “They can be used for storage on your property, on our property, or you can use them as a moving alternative where we can drop it off at your place, you load it, and when you’re ready, we transport it. It’s a very cost-effective way of moving.”

The storage cubes measure 8 feet wide by 16 feet deep by 8 feet high, and feature a brand-new, aesthetically-pleasing look and feel; indeed, they are “neighbor approved”!

“We noticed that we were being hired to load pods, and we realized that we had the infrastructure to do this ourselves, and maybe even improve on the concept,” Rodik said of the company’s decision to create their storage cubes. “Now when people call, they are happy to find out they can hire us to both provide the labor and the container in one shot. It’s the best way to store on your property.”

Another unique aspect of Men On The Move is their charitable nature and strong desire to give back to the community that they serve, a resolve that will continue well into 2021 and far beyond, Rodik said.

“Men On The Move has a socially-responsible mission. Because we are fortunate to be in the position that we’re in, we do try to give back as much as we can. The owner of the company’s son has Autism, so we’re big on working with the autism community,” he said. “We not only give money to that cause, but also offer our services to members of the autism community. We also support Autism Speaks and we get all of our uniforms from a company called Spectrum Designs in Port Washington, who employ adults with Autism to make uniforms, custom-printed t-shirts, and promotional items. They have a great mission and we’re proud to support them.”

Clearly, with their commitment to the health and safety of their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, their support of great charitable causes, and some exciting new announcements in terms of a new self-storage facility and the introduction of their unique storage cubes, 2021 is shaping up to be Men On The Move’s biggest and most exciting year yet.
