Share

Pronto of Long Island, Inc. announced today that the agency is a recipient of a $10,000 award from the National Grid Foundation, which will be used to help Pronto address the increased demand for food at its food pantry. Over the past year the number of food insecure clients needing assistance from Pronto has increased four-fold.

“This generous award will go a long way in helping us help others who require our services now more than ever,” said Executive Director Marc Soto. “We are extremely grateful for the National Grid Foundation’s support of our programs.”

The National Grid Foundation has kicked off 2021 by helping its neighbors with food access, human services and emergency heating fund support assisting local communities impacted by COVID-19. With a $1.5 million donation, more than 50 non-profit organizations across New York, Mass. and Rhode Island will aid thousands of individuals with basic human needs, hunger relief, and address fuel-neutral winter energy costs. During 2020, the National Grid Foundation Board of Directors approved a total of $2 million in COVID-support funding to assist communities in need, including the currently announced gift.

About Pronto of Long Island
Pronto opened in 1969 from the vision of a group of committed lay people and clergy at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church. Pronto has been able to flourish based on contributions of food, clothing, furniture, household items and monetary donations. As always, this vision is fueled by prayer and the hard work of committed volunteers, and with these two powerful elements, Pronto cannot help but succeed.
