COVID-19 Update from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone

Share

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has released the following statement on the County’s ongoing response to COVID-19. Today, New York State reported 1,587 new COVID-19 cases in Suffolk County out of 16,976 tests, for a positivity rate of 9.3 percent.

“The trend we saw earlier this week is holding steady, with a positivity rate below 10 percent for the sixth day in a row now here in Suffolk County. After months of drastic increase, it seems we are finally moving in a positive direction.

“As we continue to limit gatherings, practice social distancing, and wear masks, our focus remains getting the vaccine in as many arms as possible, as fast as possible. Suffolk County is poised and ready to go. We have an actionable plan and the infrastructure in place to vaccinate at least 6,500 individuals a day – we just simply need the vaccines.

“While we must remain patient, everyone can rest assured, we will build back stronger, one vaccine at a time.”
