Suffolk Legislature Collects Donations for Toys for Tots at Drive-Through Event

With the demand for toy donations skyrocketing this year, the Suffolk County Legislature partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to collect dozens of toys at a drive-through donation event on Saturday.

Toys were handed off as cars drove through the parking area at the legislature’s William H. Rogers Building in Hauppauge on Dec. 19. Legislature staff members donated $700 to purchase toys to contribute to the collection, and many legislators collected toys in their district offices.

“The Suffolk County Legislature was proud to be a part of the Marine’s Toys for Tots campaign here on Long Island,” said the legislature’s Presiding Officer, Rob Calarco. “COVID-19 is putting a strain on so many families this year, making the need for toy donations greater than ever. We were happy to be able to give people a safe, easy way to contribute. Their generosity will help ensure that the children of our county have a wonderful holiday after such a difficult year. Thank you to everyone who donated.”

Donations are being distributed through Toys for Tots to the county’s Department of Social Services and the TriCYA in Huntington.
