Donovan Alexis, 24, a Stony Brook University Journalism & Communications graduate (Class of 2020) has been working as a front desk agent at the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook since 2017, interacting with guests and learning the hospitality business. He also shared his phenomenal talent as a filmmaker by producing a two-minute commercial that highlights not only the best of the hotel, but the numerous activities and sites in the Three Village area.
The commercial took four days of shooting and includes drone shots of the Old Field Lighthouse, Avalon Park and Preserve, Stony Brook Village and the Port Jefferson waterfront.
“My goal for this commercial was to showcase everything the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook has to offer.,” said Donovan. “I hope those who see it get a sense of curiosity and are pleasantly surprised! Not only does the hotel have great amenities, but its location is convenient for anyone who’d like to visit the local attractions. The locations I included are all less than a 15 minute drive away.”
“We have been so fortunate to have Donovan as a team member at the Holiday Inn Express,” said John Tsunis, the principal of the hotel. “His talent as a filmmaker has been a wonderful bonus and we are all thrilled with the commercial he has made for us. It really captures what the hotel has to offer and the beautiful Three Village area.”
Donovan was born in Brooklyn, New York and has also lived in Ottawa, Canada. Now a Port Jefferson Station resident, he intends to continue working at the HIE, while also pursuing opportunities in broadcast television and news production.
