Curran: ER Nurse Gabrielle Desiree is First to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine at NUMC

Share

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran released the following statement after Nassau University Medical Center ER Nurse Gabrielle Desiree received the first dose of the new COVID-19 vaccine:

Today is a historic day for the dedicated frontline healthcare workers at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) as ER Nurse Gabrielle Desiree from Baldwin is the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. A batch of 797 Pfizer vaccines arrived at our County’s only public safety net hospital which sees some of the most vulnerable residents in our County. Critical Care nurses and doctors will be the first to receive followed by Respiratory Therapists, housekeeping and pharmacy staff. Next week, the property will be receiving 2,000 vaccines from Moderna.

Today marks the beginning of the end of this battle and the pain that this virus has caused. I am very proud of our healthcare heroes at NUMC and across the County and I hope the long-awaited arrival of the vaccine helps give them a sense of confidence and security as they continue to step up and serve.
