Curran: Nassau County COVID-19 Positivity Rate Reaches 3.4 Percent

Share

According to Nassau officials, the county’s COVID-19 positivity rate is currently 3.4 percent. Nassau’s hospitals are reporting 96 COVID-19 hospitalizations, 21 patients in ICU, and 6 intubated. There has been an increase in cases across Nassau, and according to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, happens next will comes down to what each of us do in the next few days and weeks.

“As County Executive, I’ve made clear that I will do everything I can to keep our schools open. School buildings have not been a major vector of transmission in Nassau, and isolating children from teachers and friends is detrimental to both their educational and emotional growth,” she said. “Yesterday’s news about a promising vaccine is a big deal. Any vaccines will need to be validated, authorized, manufactured, distributed, and taken en masse, but there is now a light at the end of the tunnel. Long Island has a difficult winter ahead, but we’ll get through it if we just stick to the basics: wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash hands often.”
