First-Ever Turducken Sandwich Debuts on Long Island

Share

The Hero Joint, Patchogue’s beloved sandwich shop, makes sandwich history with the debut of their newest creation, the Tyler Turducken. Known for their creative and delicious sandwiches, The Hero Joint is once again showcasing their innovation with a new sandwich that debuted on Friday, October 9th, at their Patchogue location—74B East Main Street in Patchogue, NY. www.TheHeroJoint.com.

The Tyler Turducken sandwich, named for a friend who loves duck but has yet to find it on a lunchtime menu in a sandwich format, consists of a house-made patty of chicken, freshly-roasted carved turkey, and sliced Long Island duck topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, a creamy cranberry mustard spread, all served on artisan sourdough bread. This culinary showstopper offers the traditional turducken roast experience in a hand-held grab-and go sandwich format, perfect for lunch or dinner.

The traditional, almost mystical, turducken is a dish consisting of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, stuffed into a deboned turkey. “We believe by turning the traditional turducken into a sandwich format will give people the ability to enjoy a dish that is both incredibly delicious and very complicated to make,” said John Murray III, chef/owner of The Hero Joint.

“At The Hero Joint, we like to push the culinary envelope,” said Murray. “We wanted to make a unique sandwich that is not on anybody’s radar, not offered at any other sandwich shop, not available from any restaurant here on Long Island.” With so many fans enamored with the culinary creativity of Murray and his staff, The Hero Joint has become a frequent stop for locals searching for extraordinary sandwiches, soups, and sides. Murray boasts, “we are not just your ordinary deli and our guests have come to expect out-of-the-box creative things from us. We believe this turducken sandwich lives up to that expectation.”

The Tyler Turducken debuted at The Hero Joint on Friday, October 9th, for $14.99. It will be available for a limited time as a fall seasonal specialty sandwich and is expected to be among the best sellers on The Hero Joint menu.

The Hero Joint is located at 74B East Main Street, Patchogue, NY 11772 and is open daily from 10:00AM-4:00PM. The Hero Joint now also offers dinner service Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Pick up orders can be made by calling the retail location at 631-636-0500, local delivery is also available when orders are placed online at The Hero Joint website through ChowNow.
