Suffolk County Executive Bellone Announces Upcoming Virtual Hiring and Career Exploration Events

Share

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced that the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center will host three virtual employment events, this week, to assist residents in their job searches. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many critical services that residents rely on have been altered, but understanding the employment challenges residents are currently facing, Suffolk County has transitioned its job fairs, hiring events, and career exploration events to a virtual format.

“Many of the people who lost their jobs still need assistance, and the Virtual Hiring Events run by the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center provides an incredible resource to those individuals,” said County Executive Bellone. “Health and safety remain top priorities, and the ability to participate in these virtual events from the comfort of your own home has and will continue to help those who lost their jobs. I urge anyone looking for hiring assistance to reach out to the Employment Center today.”

To assist both residents and businesses in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Suffolk County Department of Labor Licensing, and Consumer affairs launched a Virtual Career & Talent Portal. The internet based job board serves as a one-stop-shop for employers and jobseekers, bringing all the programs and services available in the bricks and mortar One-Stop Employment Center online. This job board is also available in Spanish for those seeking job resources and who are Spanish speaking.

Job seekers are able to access online offerings such as job listings, education and training opportunities, create a résumé tutorials, career building assistance, research in-demand occupations, be matched with employers and much more. To date, more than 3,200 individuals have registered, 108 employers have registered and 236 resumes have been created.
