Nassau County Announces Increased DWI Enforcement for July 4th Weekend

Share

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran today announced that the Nassau County Police Department and village Police agencies will conduct stepped-up STOP DWI enforcement starting Friday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 5th. The funding for the special holiday period enforcement has been provided by the NYS STOP DWI Coordinators Association through a grant from the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

“Drunk or drugged driving robs families of fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, spouses, and friends. Nassau County will not tolerate anyone getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. As we increase DWI enforcement this weekend, we urge all residents to stay smart and enjoy a safe 4th of July celebration,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.

“The Nassau County Police Department urges all individuals that travel our roadways to exercise sound judgement and never operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We will be out with extra DWI patrols during the holiday weekend to keep all motorists who travel our roadways safe. I wish all of our residents a safe and happy 4th of July weekend and recommend the use of a designated driver when appropriate,” said Nassau County Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder.

“Remember to have a Sober Plan this weekend to have a safe ride home for you, your friends and family. Police Agencies throughout the County will aggressively target those who choose to drive impaired and place lives in danger. Don’t Drive – Get a Ride – Have a Sober Plan,” said Nassau County STOP DWI Coordinator Christopher M. Mistron.
