Dime Community Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCOM) (the “Company” or “Dime” or “its”), the parent company of Dime Community Bank (the “Bank”), announced that its Board of Directors approved the promotion of John Romano to Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer of the Company and the Bank.
In his new role, Mr. Romano will continue with responsibility for Business Banking and add reporting responsibilities for Retail Banking, Municipal Deposits, Operations and Support Department (OSD) and Facilities.
John joined Dime in October 2017 as Senior Vice President, Business Banking. “In the past three years and under John’s direction, Business Banking has grown into a strong and critical part of the Bank” said Stu Lubow, Senior Executive Vice President and President of Dime. “With retail and business banking, along with operations, under the same leadership, I look forward to continued collaboration and growth in these areas in the future,” he stated.
Prior to joining Dime, John had extensive community bank experience and held executive positions at each bank he worked. Most recently, he served as President and Acting CEO of First Central Savings Bank where he oversaw all business lines, including Retail and Business Banking. He also oversaw Retail Banking and all operations as EVP at Amalgamated Bank, was Market President at People’s United Bank, and President and COO at Bank of Smithtown (later bought by People’s United). John started his career at Astoria Federal Savings (now Sterling National Bank) where he managed and directed consumer and business product development.
