On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office participated in a “Thank You Parade” of deputies, correction officers, the Stony Brook University Police Department, and the Setauket Fire Department to Stony Brook University Children’s Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. The caravan, complete with lights and sirens, was to show appreciation to all the men and women working tirelessly, day and night, at the hospital.

The parade, which included various Sheriff’s Office, University Police, and Setauket Fire Department vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles, drove past Stony Brook Children’s Hospital located on Lauterbur Drive in Stony Brook. Hospital staff viewed from the front of the building and from the many windows of the floors above.

Sheriff Toulon spoke to the crowd, saying, “We wanted to say thank you, because you are our heroes. You are coming to work every single day, dealing with issues that are unimaginable, and taking patients from all different areas. We want you to know that we love you, we honor you, and we thank you for everything that you do every single day.”

The parade included dozens of marked and unmarked Sheriff’s Office vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office Mobile DWI Processing Unit, The MRAP (Mine Resistant, Ambush Protected) Vehicle, the Sheriff’s new START Unit, University Police units, and fire trucks from the Setauket Fire Department.
