White House Delivers 251,200 n95 Masks to Suffolk, Additional 100,000 n95 Masks to Northwell Hospitals

This past Sunday evening, President Trump announced that the White House would send 200,000 n95 masks to Suffolk County at the request of Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), member of the bipartisan Congressional Coronavirus Task Force. However, the White House has now delivered 351,200 n95 masks: 251,200 for Suffolk County and 100,000 for Northwell Hospitals west of Suffolk.

“This delivery is just the latest in a continued good-faith effort by every level of government, from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone to the highest levels of the administration and the President himself,” said Congressman Zeldin. “Each and every one of us have continued to put the health and safety of our local healthcare workers and first responders over personal politics, and I look forward to continuing to build on this progress as we defeat this pandemic. I would like to personally thank President Trump, Jared Kushner, and Rear Admiral John Polowczyk, a native Long Islander himself, for not only ensuring Suffolk County received this critical PPE, but delivered above and beyond what was promised.”

This past Saturday night, Congressman Zeldin, member of the bipartisan Congressional Coronavirus Task Force, pleaded for urgent assistance from across America with securing desperately needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Suffolk County. Earlier in the evening, Congressman Zeldin had been informed by county officials that Suffolk County’s stockpile of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was out of surgical masks, n95 masks, gowns, face shields and body bags. Rep. Zeldin quickly received multiple direct offers to help.

“We are all in this together. We are not Republicans and Democrats. We are Americans first. Teamwork will not only get our county, state and nation through this difficult time, but will also make us stronger and more united than ever before when we reach the other side of this outbreak,” Congressman Zeldin concluded. “Our health care workers, first responders, law enforcement and other front line warriors are risking their own safety and the safety of their loved ones in order to protect public health. We owe it to these incredibly selfless Americans to fight for them with all of our might as they fight so hard for us.”
