TopGolf Breaks Ground on Long Island

Share

TopGolf, a popular venue that combines a driving range with a restaurant and sports bar, is coming to Long Island. Construction has already begun in Holtsville where New York’s first TopGolf will open. There is no set date for construction to be completed or a timeframe to open but fans have been waiting for a couple of years for this to happen.

On the flip side, not everyone is happy and local residents have complained about the prospect of the business bringing in noise, traffic and more lights to the area.

Positioned off of the Long Island Expressway near exit 62, reports say that the complex will cost $25 million. Plans show that it will be located on a 27-acre vacant industrial site between Zebra Technologies to the west and Cheap Sam’s nursery to the east on the north service road in Holtsville.

Plans show an entrance off of the service road with a buffer between the facility and the residential area to the north.

TopGolf describes itself on its website as a game that anyone can play.

“Score points by hitting micro-chipped golf balls at giant dartboard-like targets on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the centre or ‘bullseye’ and the further the distance, the more points earned.”

The arcade style play is what attracts both golfers and non-golfers to the venue.
