Make-A-Wish Suffolk County Announces Appointment of Board Member, John Tsunis, Esq., Chairman & CEO of Gold Coast Bank

On Wednesday, January 15th Make-A-Wish® Suffolk County, NY and their board of directors welcomed John C. Tunis as a newly appointed member of the Board of Directors. He has been an attorney for over 40 years and founded the law firm of Tsunis Gasparis, LLP. He is also involved in the hospitality business with Long Island Hotels, LLC., Tsunis Hotels, LLC., and owns the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook.

Presently, John Tsunis is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Golf Coast Bank and Gold Coast Bancorp. Mr. Tsunis is involved with many philanthropic endeavors, he is a Member of the Board of Governors of Touro Law School; President of the Tsunis Family Foundation, Inc.; Founding President of the Long Island Greek-American Chamber of Commerce; Member of the Board of Directors of Long Island Charities; Member of the Board of Directors of Stony Brook University’s Seawolves United; Member of the Board of Directors of Stony Brook University Children’s Hospital Advancement Council as well as many more.

As a well-respected leader in our Community, we are honored to have Mr. Tsunis help us in our mission to grant wishes to children with critical illnesses.

The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses, between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 350,000 children around the world, comprised of 60 national chapters 39 international affiliates. The Suffolk County chapter was founded in 1983 and since then has created magic for over 2,900 local children.
