Melville-based Comtech Telecommunications has been awarded a contract for up to nearly $100 million to provide global field support services for military satellite communication terminals around the world.

The company said it obtained the contract valued at up to $98.6 million during its first quarter of fiscal year 2020 through its Mission-Critical Technologies group, part of Comtech’s Government Solutions segment.

Government contracts such as this are awarded with a ceiling, indicating the potential that has been approved.

The contract has been initially funded at $22.2 million with “additional funding expected” over the next 12 months.

“We are honored that the Army has put its trust in Comtech to provide support of U.S. warfighters,” CEO Fred Kornberg said.

The field support contract covers engineering and technical work to support terminals.
