Suffolk County Police recently arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he drove his vehicle in the wrong direction on Express Drive South in Brentwood.

A Highway Patrol officer was driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway, near exit 53, when he observed a 2002 Ford Explorer traveling westbound on Express Drive South at 3:16 a.m. The officer drove his vehicle onto Express Drive South traveling eastbound with lights and siren activated, approached the westbound Ford, and brought it to a stop.

The driver of the Ford, Rafael Flores-Murcia, 30, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Flores-Murcia was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
