Rep. Zeldin Announces Over $1.7M in Federal Funding for Stony Brook University

Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) announced Stony Brook University has been awarded over $1.7 million in federal funding through the National Science Foundation to develop tools that will allow Long Island seniors to maintain their independence. Learn more about the specifics of the grant here.

“Ensuring our communities’ seniors maintain their independence and the highest quality of life possible is of the utmost importance,” said Congressman Zeldin. “Emerging technology and ever-changing healthcare advancements provide a unique opportunity to fulfill this important mission and help ensure older Long Islanders can continue their lives with dignity. With Stony Brook’s best talent who received this award leading the charge right here on Long Island, the days ahead are bright for our local seniors.”

“I would like to congratulate Stony Brook University researchers on their $1.7 million NSF award developing new technological and healthcare solutions to enable our senior Long Island residents to age at home and with a higher quality of life,” said Stony Brook Professor Fan Ye. “Stony Brook faculty from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Renaissance School of Medicine, Nursing, Social Welfare will engage community partners to promote the welfare, autonomy, and dignity of older citizens while respecting their privacy. These innovations will change the way we age as a society and is a testament of the value of research toward that goal.”
