Legislator Spencer Delivers Face Masks for Senior Citizens at Paumanack Village in Greenlawn

Share

Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer recently met with Mary D’Agostino the Service Coordinator at Paumanack Village I & II in Greenlawn to deliver more than 300 washable cloth face coverings for the senior citizens within the housing community.

“The evidence is clear that masks help reduce the spread of coronavirus. My colleagues and I at the county have made it a priority to ensure that our older residents – those who are most vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19 – have access to the personal protective equipment they need to stay safe,” stated Legislator Spencer. “It’s my pleasure to deliver these protective face coverings, and I thank Mary for her assistance in distributing them to seniors in need.”

“Thank you very much Legislator Spencer and his staff for the generous supply of face masks for the residents of Paumanack Village I & II,” stated Mary D’Agostino. “We are extremely grateful and appreciate this assistance which helps our seniors stay healthy,”

Legislator Spencer encourages all residents to continue taking protective measures to limit the spread of coronavirus, including practicing social distancing, regular hand washing, and wearing masks. “Thankfully, as a result of the aggressive efforts taken across our state, we have flattened the curve and are safely phasing out of the shutdown. In order to continue on that path, however, we must remain vigilant in our collective efforts to stop the spread and protect our public health, particularly those at greatest risk,” said Legislator Spencer. “We are at a pivotal point in time, I encourage all residents to not let their guard down and, for the safety and well-being of your family members, friends, and neighbors, please, continue to wear a face covering when in public. We’re in a good place – let’s keep up the good work.”

Seniors and immunocompromised residents living in the 18th District who cannot access a face covering may send a request for a mask to William.spencer@suffolkcountyny.gov or call (631) 854-4500. Please include your name, address, the number of people in your family, and the best time for delivery. Anyone in need of a face covering who resides in Suffolk County, but outside of the 18th District, can call the County 311 call center for assistance.
