Cox Media Group Initiative Encourages Listeners To Shop Local And Support Small Businesses On Long Island

Share

Local businesses on Long Island have endured countless challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic and many still struggle to serve their customers, communities and employees.

Now, as Nassau and Suffolk Counties start to open back up, they are depending on all Long Islanders to help get locally owned businesses back on their feet.

Cox Media Group’s 102.3 WBAB and 106.1 BLI are teaming up to encourage Long Islanders to exclusively “Shop Local” on Long Island every Saturday.

This on-air and digital campaign will remind listeners about the benefits of shopping local and supporting small businesses, while featuring many of the homegrown business success stories and focusing on some that need our support RIGHT NOW in order to stay open, and bring back the Long Island economy stronger than we left it!

Local business owners can sign up at WBAB.com and WBLI.com to be included on the “Shop Local Saturday” listing and to be featured in radio announcements each Friday and Saturday.

Local business groups and Chambers of Commerce can assist by encouraging their members to participate and are welcome to contact Cox Media Group to find out how they can be more involved with the campaign and support their members.

All Long Islanders are encouraged to post messages and photos with the hashtag: #LIShopLocal and draw attention to their favorite local businesses that need a boost.

Get more information on “Shop Local Saturday” at WBAB.com/shoplocal and WBLI.com/shoplocal.
