The Suffolk County SPCA was credited this morning with rescuing eight (8) baby ducklings which had fallen through the grates of a storm drain in the Hamlet at Willow Creek, Mt. Sinai.
Chief Roy Gross learned of the situation and was the first on scene. As Gross and golf course employees were removing the storm drain cover, the duckling’s nervous Mama stood careful watch nearby. After the storm drain cover was carefully removed, Chief Gross used a long-handled net to lift the baby ducklings to safety.
As soon as Chief Gross reunited all of the ducklings with their Mama, she gathered them up and marched them off in order.
