Share

Vacant lot in Riverhead Town set to be developed into retail space plus six apartment units above.

A mixed-use building proposed for a vacant lot at 406 Osborn Avenue in Riverhead’s Polish Town is moving toward final plan approval. At a January 2nd Riverhead Town Planning Board meeting, representatives distributed revised plans for the board to review based on feedback.

The building will be two stories and consist of retail on the first floor totalling 4,556 square feet and 4,458 square feet of residential apartments on the second floor which will be made up of six units.

A listing for the property shows that the property is just shy of a half acre of cleared land located on a well-trafficked road. The parcel is on the northwest corner of the intersection of Osborn Avenue and Pulaski Street in Riverhead Village. It sold for $309,800, according to multiple listings for the property.

During the meeting the relocation of a sign that read Polish Town was discussed. Polish Town is a small community within Riverhead that was settled by Polish immigrants at the turn of the 21 Century. The sign will be moved to the corner of the property by the developer.
