The Ground Round, the iconic casual dining restaurant chain originally founded in 1969, closed the doors of most of its locations for business amid bankruptcy proceedings in 2004; currently, only four locations remains, all of which are in the Midwest.
Long Island had several Ground Round restaurants back in its heyday, with the final location – one of a handful of holdouts following the chain being bought out of bankruptcy by a group of franchise owners in 2004 – at 2647 Montauk Highway in Brookhaven finally closing in 2021.
The property has remained vacant to this very day.
The building – still intact upon a 2.4 acre plot of land and coming in at 4,800 square feet, with an 1,400-square-foot outdoor dining patio – is currently selling with an asking price of $1.95 million; annual taxes are listed at approximately $21,000.
Interested parties that wish to potentially buy or lease the property can call 631-872-2064, according to a sign outside of the former restaurant.
