Optimum Business, the leading provider of fiber internet, mobile, TV, and phone services, is announcing a $20,000 technology grant to North Shore High School on Long Island through Optimum’s partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose.
Through this donation, students at North Shore High School now have access to the Laguna Tools CNC Laser Cutter as well as Prusa 3D printers, providing them with cutting-edge tools for learning across various disciplines. These devices will enhance classes such as Design and Drawing for Production, Woodworking, Mechanical Engineering, Principles of Engineering, STEAM Sculptures, and Visual Arts, while also supporting extracurricular clubs, including Robotics and Musical Production. The new technology will allow students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as promote teamwork, communication, creativity, and innovation, preparing them for the modern workplace.
This marks the third $20,000 technology grant awarded by Optimum Business to a school on Long Island as both Massapequa High School and Oceanside Middle School have each been recipients of this grant in recent months. Massapequa High School purchased a CNC Router, a machine that allows students to design and fabricate precise, large-scale projects with ease while enabling collaborative, project-based learning. At Oceanside Middle School, students received 18 new laptops and charging charts that allowed them to compete in a hackathon.
