Governor Hochul Announces Appointments To The Long Island Power Authority Board Of Trustees

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced appointments to the Long Island Power Authority Board of Trustees.

“I’m proud to announce the latest appointments to the Long Island Power Authority Board of Trustees, a group that I’m confident will bring unique knowledge and expertise to the Board,” Governor Hochul said. “LIPA is playing a critical role in advancing a clean, reliable and affordable electric grid for Long Islanders and these appointments will help transform how we power New York for future generations. We are grateful to the departing board members for their service.”

The Governor’s appointments are as follows:

Tracey Edwards is appointed to Chair of the LIPA Board. Edwards is a Senior Vice President and New York Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Concurrently, Edwards is a Consultant at Tracey Edwards Consulting Resources, a Managing Director at the Transportation Safety Planning and Solutions Group (TSPSG), and a Regional Director at the Long Island NAACP. Previously, Edwards was a Commissioner for the New York Public Service Commission at the New York State Department of Public Service from 2019 to 2023.

David “Dave” J. Manning is the Director of Stakeholder Relations and External Affairs for the Brookhaven National Laboratory, a position they began in 2015. Prior to Brookhaven National Laboratory, Manning was a Representative to the United States for the Government of Alberta, Canada from 2013 to 2014 and Executive Director of the New York State Smart Grid Consortium from 2011 to 2023. Manning obtained a B.A./LLB in Law from the University of Alberta.

Claudia P. Lovas is a Managing Attorney with Claudia P. Lovas & Associates at American Family Insurance, a position they began in 2021. Previously, Lovas was a Regional Managing Attorney with the Law Offices of Lovas & Naqvi at GuideOne Insurance Company from 2010 to 2021. Lovas was an Associate at L’Abbate, Balkan, Colavita & Contini L.L.P. from 2008 to 2010. From 2003 to 2007, Lovas was an Associate at Zawacki, Everett and Gray. Lovas was an Associate at GE Financial Assurance from 2001 to 2003. From 2000 to 2001, Lovas was an Associate at Brand, Brand and Burke. Previously, Lovas was a co-founder of the Law Offices of Lovas and Hartman.

Tracey Edwards, Chair of the LIPA Board said, “I am honored to be appointed the Chair of the LIPA Board and continue to serve New Yorkers as we transition to a renewable energy grid. I look forward to working closely with all Board Members to ensure all Long Island residents benefit from the State’s commitment to building a clean energy future.”

Laureen Harris and Sheldon L. Cohen will continue to serve on the Board.
