Roosevelt Man in Custody after Attacking Brother with Knife, Cops Say

The First Squad reports on an Assault that occurred on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10:33 PM in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, defendant Jalar Dancy, 37, got involved in a verbal argument with his 35-year-old brother at their residence located on Westfield Avenue while in the presence of the victims two children, ages nine and four. Defendant Jalar Dancy grabbed a silver knife and struck the victim with it, causing a slight laceration to the right side of his head and a puncture wound to his right shoulder.
Defendant Jalar Dancy then fled the scene but was placed under arrest a short time later by responding Officers without further incident.
The 35-year-old victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
Defendant Jalar Dancy is charged with Assault 2nd degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
