Jason A. Stern to be Installed as 24th Dean of the Suffolk Academy of Law

Jason A. Stern will be installed as the Academy of Law’s twenty-fourth Dean on June 9th, 2023 at the Cold Spring Country Club, Huntington, NY.

Jason A. Stern is a member of Weber Law Group LLP (WLG), one of the region’s premier law firms concentrating on commercial real estate transactions, land use, zoning, government relations, and federal and state litigation.

Mr. Stern is WLG’s director of litigation and has been successfully involved with a wide range of cases, from Article 78 proceedings to acting as lead counsel in complex multi-party actions and other high-profile matters, including multi-million-dollar jury awards and appeals before the New York Court of Appeals, referred to as “landmark” victories for his clients.

Mr. Stern has been described by Long Island Business News as a “precedent setter” and was a recent recipient of the Long Island Business News “Against All Odds” Real Estate Award.

Mr. Stern has authored numerous articles on substantive legal issues published by the New York Law Journal, National Law Journal, and The Suffolk Lawyer, for which he writes the monthly “Real Estate Development” column. Mr. Stern has been interviewed regarding significant legal developments by several media outlets, including Newsday, Long Island Business News, The Real Deal, and News Channel 12. Mr. Stern is a frequent lecturer on such issues and his legal submissions have also been adopted for use in various lawyers’ manuals, including Bender’s Forms of Pleading.

Prior to joining WLG, Mr. Stern was an associate in the litigation department of Anderson Kill PC, a national law firm, where he represented clients in large-scale federal litigation, and was a member of Anderson & Ochs LLP, a Manhattan-based litigation boutique, where his practice focused on complex business and real estate-related disputes.

Mr. Stern received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1995, where he was awarded a Presidential Scholarship and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1998, where he was an editor of the New York University Journal of Legislation and Public Policy and a recipient of the Hon. Francis J. Bloustein Scholarship.

Mr. Stern also sits on the Board of Directors of the Wyandanch Plaza Association and is a member of the Suffolk County Jewish Advisory Board, to which he was appointed by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.

The Suffolk Academy of Law is the educational arm of the Suffolk County Bar Association and seeks to improve the quality of legal services to the public by providing a comprehensive program of continuing legal education that will help practicing attorneys, members of the judiciary, and legal paraprofessionals to strengthen their knowledge and competency. The Suffolk County Bar Association is a professional association comprised of more than 2,800 lawyers and judges and was founded in 1908 to serve the needs of the local legal community and the public.
