Seaford Man Arrested for Driving on Drugs After Seriously Injuring Motorist in Crash

Suffolk County Police on Saturday, October 30 arrested a man for driving while ability impaired by drugs following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured another man in North Amityville.
Tristan McLaughlin was driving a 2020 Nissan Frontier northbound on Route 110 when the vehicle struck the rear of a 2006 Toyota Sienna driven by Juan Espinal Torres in the left turning lane at Nathalie Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. The impact of the crash pushed the Sienna into the southbound lanes of Route 110 where it struck a 2016 Toyota Camry and a 2011 Nissan Maxima that were stopped at a red light at Lindy Avenue.
Espinal Torres, 52, of Copiague, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital where he remains in serious condition. There were no other injuries.
McLaughlin, 26, of 2456 Neptune Ave., Seaford, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired/Drugs. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
