Share

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran has issued the following statement regarding the county’s cooling centers and extended pool hours during this week’s anticipated summer heat wave:

“The season’s second heat wave is expected to hit with temperatures as high as 96 degrees on Monday. I want to urge residents – especially seniors and parents of young children – to take extra precautions during this potentially dangerous stretch of heat. Drink your fluids, limit your time in the sun, check on elderly neighbors, and never leave children or pets in the car – even for a quick errand. The County’s cooling centers will be available Saturday – Wednesday for anyone who needs to cool down in the air-conditioning. Residents can also keep cool at County pools where we will be extending hours to provide additional relief.”
