Carol Silva, the face of News 12 for 30 years has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
In a video on Facebook and Instagram, Silva says her Doctors told her two weeks ago:
Right in the middle of a perfectly good September, I finally saw my doctor about my persistent cough. And then this happened. Stage 4 Cancer. Please take a minute to watch my message to all of you. Thank you for your continued love and support- I feel all of it.

Silva says tests determined that she had non-small cell lung cancer and that it had spread to her brain.
She recently underwent thoracoscopic surgery to biopsy her lung tumor, and is undergoing treatment for her lung, and radiation for her brain .
She received some good news recently — the tumors in her brain had disappeared, although “we won’t know [for certain]until I go in for an MRI in a couple of weeks.”
Silva has been off the air for the past three weeks but says she hopes to be back shortly.
We wish her well.
