Melville-based Canon U.S.A. is going beyond cameras and showcasing  a wide range of eye care products at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting.

The company  at the event at Moscone Center in San Francisco  October 12 – 15 plans to show its portfolio of eyecare products.

Tsuneo Imai, vice president and general manager of Healthcare Solutions for Canon’s Business Information Communications Group, said the company continues to “expand its offerings in the health care imaging industry.”

He cited eyecare products such as the Xephilio OCT-A1 Optical Coherence Tomography device, which was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

The system automatically retains a retina scan position for each patient from one exam to the next, eliminating the need for manual adjustment.

Ben Szirth, director of the tele-ocular program at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the New Jersey Medical School, praised its “ability to capture high-quality images with approximately three micron optical depth resolution”

Canon is also touting its CR-2 AF Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera and CR-2 PLUS AF Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera, which can produce high-quality retinal scans and images.

The RK-F2 Full Auto Ref-Keratometer allows readings to be done for one eye and then the other.

The TX-20 Full Auto Tonometer helps eyecare professionals more  easily align and measure pressure in the eyes.

And CX-1 Hybrid Digital Mydriatic/ Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camerais a retinal camera that can produce high-quality images.
